The Spiteful Flower at the Pink House
Just before the beloved Pink House in Newburyport/Plum Island, MA was TORN DOWN, I noticed some wild flowers standing tall and strong just under my feet and set in the foreground of this magical scene. These volunteer flowers reminded me of a few friends that made themselves present during the upheavals in my life. While I was falling apart, they stood strong, and composed, and classy too. These chums set an example to remain strong and beautiful in the face of contempt. So I added this bold flower to the mix in my own mind for this painting...The Spiteful Flower. Note: It is not a coincidence that I painted my own house pink and tend to a red zinnia garden.
